Badges and Bulk Badge Printing
Every person at your tournament gets a badge with a QR code for check-in. You can print the whole set from one page, four badges to a sheet, and come back later to print only the new ones.
One badge per person
- Competitors get one badge per registration.
- Judges, coaches and staff get one badge per person that lists every role they hold in your tournament. If they also compete, their own competitor entry is folded onto the same badge once its payment is confirmed. Until then the badge shows their other roles.
One QR code covers everything on the badge. If someone gets a new role after you printed, their badge counts as not printed again so it shows up for a reprint.
What’s on a badge
- The tournament name and dates
- A colored band with the role or roles (competitor, official, coach, staff)
- The photo, or the person’s initials when there is no photo
- First name, last name and dojo
- The events they are entered in
- For judges, their referee licence
- The QR code and a short check-in code you can type if the QR won’t scan

Filters and sorting
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Competitors | Include competitor badges. |
| Judges, coaches & staff | Include badges for your crew. |
| Not printed yet | Leave out badges you already marked as printed. |
| Paid only | Leave out competitors whose payment is not confirmed yet (paid, waived, or nothing left to pay). The summary says how many are hidden. |
| With photo only | Leave out badges without a photo. |
| All dojos | Print one dojo at a time, handy for handing a stack to each coach. |
| Sort | By dojo, by last name or by registration date. |
Your filter choices are remembered on that computer. A summary line shows how many badges and letter sheets you are about to print.
Paper and print settings
- Letter paper, 100% scale (actual size), margins None, no headers or footers.
- Regular paper is fine. A 5 mil laminating pouch makes it firm.
- Four badges per sheet, each 3.875 × 5.25 in, sized for 4 × 6 in badge pouches.
- Cut along the crop marks. They print even with background graphics turned off.
Printing from the Judges and Staff pages
The Print All Badges button on the Judges page and on the Staff page prints every judge, coach and staff badge in one go, printed before or not. The Badge action on a person prints just theirs. Both print without leaving the page. People you added by hand without a Taikai App account get a simple printed card instead of the QR badge.
The badge sheet needs the View data permission, and marking badges as printed needs Check-in. See Available permissions explained.
Badges people print themselves
- On the web, each registration and role on a person’s account has a Print Badge button. A coach or parent with two or more competitors in the same tournament gets Download N badges (PDF), one file for the whole group.
- In the Taikai app, the badge with its QR code is in My Events. The screen brightness goes up while it shows, and it still opens when the venue Wi-Fi is down.
Lost badge? The check-in desk can search by name, and anyone with the app can show the QR on their phone. See QR code check-in setup.
