Awards LED Screen

Last updated October 2026  ·  5 min read

If your venue has an LED wall or a big TV behind the awards podium, Taikai App can run it. Between ceremonies the screen loops your event logo, sponsors and your own images or videos. During a ceremony the awards staff reveal the podium one place at a time from their phone: 3rd, then 2nd, then 1st.

The screen is a web page. The laptop connected to the LED opens a link full screen; nobody needs to sign in on it.

Turning it on

The LED screen is off by default. Only the tournament director can turn it on.

  • 1
Open the awards settings In the Tournament Manager, click Results. On the Awards & Results page, expand Awards LED screen.
  • 2
Switch it on Tick Use an LED screen at the awards area (the awards staff control it from their phone).
  • 3
Set the screen size Under Screen resolution, pick a preset or Custom and type the width and height of your LED wall. Text and podium scale to fit 16:9, 4:3 and very wide walls.
  • 4
Open the link on the LED laptop Use Copy or Open next to LED screen link, open it on the laptop connected to the LED and press F11 for full screen.

Keep the link private. Anyone with the link can view the screen. If it gets out, click New link. The old link stops working, so open the new one on the LED laptop.

Between ceremonies

Under Between ceremonies (idle loop) choose what the screen shows when no ceremony is running. The slides crossfade in a loop:

  • Event logo: your tournament logo, or its name if there is no logo.
  • Tagline: one line of text. Leave it empty for none.
  • Sponsors: one slide per sponsor in your Sponsor Directory (Settings → Sponsors).
  • Your images and short videos: click Upload image / video, or paste an https:// link and click Add. Videos play muted and to the end.
  • Seconds per slide: how long each image slide stays up.

Tick Logo strip to add a band of your event logo and sponsors scrolling along the bottom of the screen. It stays visible during ceremonies too. On a 4:3 screen it takes the bottom third.

Names, sound and confetti

  • Names show in short form with the dojo, for example J. SATO, Tiger Dojo.
  • Above each name: choose Country flag, Competitor photo or Dojo logo. A competitor with no photo or logo gets the flag.
  • Sound: a hit when a division goes on screen and a drumroll before 1st place. Connect the LED laptop to the speakers and click Enable sound on the LED screen once.
  • Confetti: set how many seconds of confetti play when a ceremony ends. 0 goes straight back to the loop.

Running a ceremony

The awards staff run ceremonies from their phone, on the same Awards & Results page. They need the Awards staff role (or any role with the publish awards permission). See Available permissions explained.

  • 1
Find the division Each division with medalists has a Show on screen button on its card.
  • 2
Tap Show on screen The LED shows the division title. The card now says what is on the screen.
  • 3
Tap Next for each place The Next button names the place it reveals: 3rd place (both bronzes together when there are two), then 2nd, then 1st. A division with only two competitors starts at 2nd. After 1st place the full podium is on screen.
  • 4
Tap End The screen plays the confetti, if set, and goes back to the idle loop.

Only one division is on the screen at a time. If another division is up, its name shows on the card. Starting a new one asks before replacing it. A double tap never skips a place.

If something goes wrong

  • The LED laptop reloads. The server keeps the ceremony's progress, so the screen picks up where it was.
  • The internet drops. The screen keeps what it shows and the idle loop keeps looping. It catches up when the connection is back.
  • The screen says it is turned off. The setting in step 2 is off for this tournament.
  • The screen says the link is not valid. Someone made a new link. Copy it again from Results.
